the square spaghetti.... a summer time treat...

I love to cook, and mix and match new things to amke something jsut a little bit yummier... So i made my summer spaghetti with just a little twist...

I used linguine as my daughter say the square spaghetti!

I tossed in 3  med sixed sections cloves of garlic and 2 big chunks of oninon... ummm into the boiling water

Here is my normal 5 cup veggie spaghetti recipe:

1 large zuchinni ( all veggies arechopped or pulsed for little ones)
1 large squash
1 onion
5 sections of garlic clove\
2 handfuls of sliced mushrooms (ummm)
1/2 of a green, yellow and red peper
1 handfull of halfed cherry tomatos (red or yellow)
1 or 1/2 pound of turkey
2 tsp of olive oil
salt peper or mrs. dash!

Put your meat on first! drizzle the bottom of you pan with the olive oil.
as you meat cooks on medium heat chop chop chop your veggies ( I do this once every two weeks and just store it in the freezer i usually make 2 gallon bags of chopped veggies for meal from  meat loaf to cassorole.)

Drain you meat and add 1/2 cup of water to steam you veggies into the pan make a circle of the meat ot a veggie pit and add in all in and cover for 10 -15 minutes. you can add a little oil so it doesn't stick just in case but my metal pan is usuall fine.

Here are the results: I didn't get a shot of it on a plate or all mixed toghet but we loved it enought to share it.

Up- cycling : reusing your own clothing to make new things.

After buy felt for sevral weeks only to find that my byrd had taken to cutting it into her little versions of heart people and flowers I decided to upcycle not recycle since they where already my items. Earlier in the summer, I had created some cute little bahama capri's for my little on. (See later post) and still had the cuttings. Yes I STILL HAD them quilter habit mostly even thought I am not quilter. you never know when an idea may strike you and you need some scraps uh uh umm... I mean upcycled fabric. It is not only stylish, environmental and creative it also saves the landfils, your back from having to lift a heavy trash bin full of fabric and it also give something old a new use.

So as I created my bow I decided to use the jean bottoms and to cut them into circles instead of my regular felt backing as it was in scraps of cut little mishappen people on my living room floor. I have to remind myself to hide those saftey siccsors.

So here is a photo of my upupcycled backing looks like:

And here is the bow that is is attached to... A kstate bow. Preppy and Cute with a little upcycled jean backing. I think it adds to the charm of the bow. But hey that is me. ... What have you up cycled send me a pic or a story!
Visit my website for more items some with upcycled back some without.

Petal Hat ....1st Attempt

I saw this cute little petal hat and decided to make my own.

What you will need:
30-45 Minutes for you first one and less as you get better
1 single infant hat
1-2 Hydrangea plants (Hobby Lobby)
8 Glue Stick
5 Rhinestones
1 lint roller(sticky paper kind) optional.

I started with a Gerber infant hat in pink . Then I shopped and shopped for the perfect petal hydrangea's at my local hobby lobby. They where half off so I bought 2 big hot pink and yellow tone ones.

I stretched the hat a little and decided to put her on my daughter DORA THE SWIMMER DOLL. (Thank Byrdie for letting me borrow you bff)

I stripped the flowers off to ready them for there new home. and then began...

I added each petal one on top of the other in a row and slowly turned the hat as i went. I filled in all the areas that seem to need a one or tow more petals and then I went onto add some layers of petals in the front and on the seam lines to make the hat full. I also turned the hat on Dora head(Her head was shaped like a cone and she has a lot of hair.) So here are the results.

***Note: I have read and seen blogs and etc that want to secure the petal via sewing. I would advise if you use this method you know that it can pose a hazard to a child who is able to reach up and pull the petals off. Please monitor and older child wearing one of these. This one is going to be used for a small infant along with a butt cover to be add later.
